A site-specific dance performance by Kinesis Project Dance Theatre live-streamed from Riverside Park South.

This popular, site-specific company’s large-scale outdoor dance performance is a ragged, sweeping and surprising love-song to New York City. Two dancers meet, twist, and wind through pathways while viewers hear stories of NY interactions and can share their own on writekind.org.

Breathing with Strangers is a dance work developed over the last year in Riverside Park South and Snug Harbor Cultural Center with support of Summer on the Hudson, LMCC/UMEZ and CUNY Dance Initiative.

Come to Fort Tryon Park and try something new. Join us on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings for one hour of walking, stretching, and strengthening exercises.

For a breath of fresh air, take your workouts outdoors. Parks are becoming a logical alternative environment for those who want to add variety to their workouts, or who just don't like the gym. And, it's an affordable way to increase physical activity opportunities, because there's nothing special to build.

Exercise with a view, in natural sunlight, with green scenery all around bestows health benefits that can’t be found indoors. Scientific studies have shown that the pleasure of being outdoors for example gives your brain, psyche, and immune system an extra boost.

All of our fitness programs are free, led by trained professionals, and suitable for all levels. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Please check back for rain and weather/air advisory cancels.

Please note: Fitness programs are canceled if the weather is lower than 20 degrees and when there are icy conditions. Saturday morning walks begin at 8:30 a.m.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made fundraising more challenging than ever, but with the right project idea you can still receive funding through our Capacity Fund Grant. We give out small grants of up to $3000 to community groups dedicated to their local parks, gardens, and green spaces.

Our grants support projects that build community groups’ capacity through outreach, membership, and programming. Join us at the Capacity Fund Grant Design Support Webinar. Our design support offers help with brochures, websites, postcards, banners, and business cards customized to help your group’s outreach efforts. In this session, you will work with our art director to create a publication or website for your community group.

Registration for this session is required and will close the day before the event. You will receive information on how to join the webinar once you register. If you have any questions, please contact Becca Cohen at rcohen@cityparksfoundation.org.

At Partnerships for Parks, we help people, organizations, and government work together to support NYC parks, gardens, trees, and other green spaces. Our free workshops are a great way to network and learn the skills needed to start, build, or sustain your park group.

Join us at the Capacity Fund Grant Info Session Webinar, and we’ll share everything you need to know about funding eligibility, project examples, and our timeline for announcements.

Dig, then ride with us on NYCMTB's monthly welcome days at Highbridge Park in Manhattan!

Bring your friends and family for a day of fun in the woods and learn what it takes to build, maintain, and ride the most progressive urban bike park in America! There will be light trail maintenance tasks for all ages from 10:00 a.m. to noon. All participants, NYCMTB members, or anyone with logged volunteer hours, receive a free 20-minute clinic and a guided ride throughout the trails from 12:30 p.m to 3:00 p.m. Bikes and helmets provided!

Highbridge Park is the home of NYC's first Mountain Biking Course. The 3-mile course offers trails of varying difficulty from intermediate to expert and a free-ride trail that includes drops, steeps, and berms. The park also features a dirt jump park and pump track, making it a good place to develop different skills at all levels. The course has been featured in national media and is stewarded by volunteers just like you!

Make this day your introduction to the park, or to the sport of off-road cycling. Interested volunteers are encouraged to participate regardless of age, ability or gender. There is something for everyone at Highbridge - It's NYC's bike park!

Join us at the Capacity Fund Grant Application Webinar, and we’ll walk through the entire Capacity Fund Grant project application. In this session, we’ll discuss what makes a strong response to each question as well as other best practices when applying.

<![CDATA[Conflict Transformation Circles for Community Gardeners]]> http://www.nycgovparks.org/events/2020/10/21/conflict-transformation-circles-for-community-gardeners http://www.nycgovparks.org/events/2020/10/21/conflict-transformation-circles-for-community-gardeners Date: October 21, 2020

Conflict is natural, and can happen even in the most well-organized garden group or with the best of friends. How can we hold space for and resolve conflict within our groups? In these monthly sessions, mediators Skye Roper-Moses and Michelle Jackson will facilitate discussion circles for community gardeners to bring their challenges to the group and collectively generate solutions. The facilitators will model skills for holding space that gardeners can bring back to their own groups to begin to develop a practice for addressing and transforming conflict in the garden.

Please RSVP to receive the link to join the webinar.

How this series works:

This participatory virtual series begins with a one-hour orientation on September 9, from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., that we ask everyone to attend. After orientation, there will be three two-hour monthly sessions (dates: 9/23, 10/21, 11/18). You can attend one, two, or all three of these sessions.

Please attend the one-hour orientation on Sept. 9, where you will meet the facilitators, suggest topics for exploration, and learn more about the sessions’ format. Please come to the orientation with ideas and specific issues that you would like to troubleshoot.

This webinar will be interactive and we encourage everyone's participation. We will not be recording.
