Tai Chi focuses the mind while training the body — meditation through movement. Once learned, it can be maintained easily as a healthy life-long practice, easily adapted to your abilities and/or limitations. Due to continuous movements, especially shifting body weight from one leg to another, Tai Chi delivers countless benefits, including increased strength, conditioning, balance, coordination, flexibility, stamina, range of motion, bone density, joint lubrication, mind/body connection; and more confidence, peace of mind thru-out the day, improved sleep at night.

Note that this is the oldest original Chen-Style Tai Chi, taught by traditional instruction, where each student learns at their own pace and builds up their knowledge bit-by-bit.

NOW EXTENDED!

This exhibition focuses on the serious problem of ocean trash that affects the health of people, marine life, and local economies. It also features poignant images of marine life by local artists. The exhibition enumerates specific actions that ordinary people can take to protect and conserve the world’s oceans.

More than 12 million volunteers over three decades with Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup have collected over 220 million pounds of trash, having picked up everything imaginable along the world’s shorelines: cigarette butts, food wrappers, abandoned fishing gear, kitchen appliances, and even automobiles. Trash in the water and on the shore can kill marine animals, injure swimmers and beachgoers, and ensnare boat propellers.

Ward off the oncoming winter doldrums with small group indoor cycling!

Did you love riding bikes as a kid? And haven't gotten on one since? Are you intimidated by the idea of a full-on Tour-de-France-style cycling class? Then consider this alternative! A kinder, gentler approach to riding. In no time, you'll go from novice to know-how! We'll build up time on the bike from week to week -- growing your ability, confidence, and comfort! Please commit to at least 3 classes. Everybody rides at their own pace.

The soundtrack for this course draws from movie scores and classical music.

PhiloSonia continues its third season and its listener-focused mission to "make music your own" with "Literati IV: Sturm und Drang," a concert inspired by Goethe's Sturm und Drang movement.

The program for Literati IV: Sturm und Drang includes F. Schubert - Quartersatz, F.Schubert - Lied der Mignon, D. 877, No. 4, F. Schubert - Gretchen am Spinnrade, D.118, H. Wolf - Ganymed, H. Wolf - Mignon: Kennst du das Land and J. Brahms - Piano Quartet in c minor.

Founder, artistic director, and violinist Stanichka Dimitrova has designed the PhiloSonia chamber music series around her passion to build personal connections between audience members and classical music. Over five concerts, PhiloSonia’s third season explores works inspired by literature and poetry, including scandalous narratives, fantastical fairy tales, and sacred texts.

An avid performer of contemporary music, Stanichka regularly collaborates with new and upcoming composers from the New York City area. She is currently a Teaching Artist for the New York Philharmonic’s Philharmonic Schools Program, where she participates in a variety of outreach activities and performances in public schools throughout New York.

PhiloSonia offers an insight into established and new works from the chamber music repertoire. Through compelling programming and interactive elements, listeners are guided through an in-depth exploration of a wide variety of works. PhiloSonia is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization, and has been featured in the award-winning online magazine Guernica.
