The Lenape Gallery at the Conference House Park Visitor Center will open a unique exhibition, featuring artist Randi Ehrhart.

Regeneration is a three-dimensional installation featuring hundreds of entomology-based miniature sculpted works constructed from dead branches, dried leaves, and other barren, hollow, empty, and vacant organic material found primarily in the Northeast United States.

Born in New York City, Ehrhart studied art at Queens College in Flushing, New York, and worked as a professional bench jeweler in the Bowery. A widow, mother of three grown sons and a recent grandmother, Ehrhart has dedicated her life and work by establishing herself as a conduit connecting nature and art in a fresh new light.

The Lenape Gallery is pleased to launch Regeneration, the first solo exhibit by Randi Ehrhart. This exhibition beautifully combines her innovative work with fascinating aspects of her life and process. The exhibit will be extended through 9-4-16.

Marking Socrates Sculpture Park’s 30th anniversary this year, the institution presents Landmark, a series of artist commissions and projects that transforms the land both physically and symbolically. Once an industrial landfill and illegal dumping ground, Socrates has transformed itself into New York City’s preeminent sculpture park and social space for public art, community engagement and urban discovery. Landmark directly addresses the idea of place as intimately tied to social and ecological structures, to maintenance and stewardship, and to evolution over time.

Landmark features eight different artist projects including a newly commissioned major earthwork by Meg Webster. Additional artists in the exhibition include Abigail DeVille, Brendan Fernandes, Cary Leibowitz, Jessica Segall, Casey Tang, the curatorial collective ARTPORT_making waves, and a Broadway Billboard by Hank Willis Thomas. Since its inception in 1986, Socrates and the surrounding area of Queens, New York has rapidly changed. Whether by engaging directly with the land or commenting on the neighborhood’s cultural and economic shifts, each artwork in Landmark reflects historic transformations in the making.

The CityParks PuppetMobile presents the classic Puss in Boots tale, with a twist. Once upon a time there lived a young man named Ferguson Mundingle. Fergus has just the bare essentials in life – a roof over his head, the clothes on his back, and his ever faithful pet cat. One day when lamenting his poor lifestyle, Fergus is astounded when his cat stands up, begins talking and introduces himself as Puss. Puss reveals to Fergus that he is very intelligent and well traveled, and even has an idea to help Fergus improve his situation. With that in mind, Puss dons a snazzy pair of boots and sets off on an exciting magical journey. Despite his reputation as a sly trickster, Puss soon proves himself a caring friend to all, willing to help at any cost!

About Brooklyn Bridge Park's Movies With a View
Movies with a View is a summer must that has earned a large and loyal following. Since its launch in 2000, we’ve wowed, entertained, thrilled, and pulled at the heartstrings of over 340,000 moviegoers, making our program one of New York City’s favorite summer film series. Movies with a View takes place every Thursday evening in July and August. In 2016, the eight-week series will draw an average of 7,000 film fans at each screening. There is no better place to be on a hot summer night than watching a classic film and enjoying the breeze off of the East River from your perch under the Brooklyn Bridge with the dazzling Manhattan skyline before you.

Selena Quintanilla was a major figure in Tejano music, a Grammy-winning recording artist, a beloved star in the American Southwest and Mexico, and seemed poised to cross over into mainstream popularity on the U.S. pop charts when she was murdered on March 31, 1995 by the president of her fan club. Written and directed by Gregory Nava, this biopic concentrates on Selena's relationship with her family and her rise to fame, dealing only briefly with her tragic death. Abraham Quintanilla (Edward James Olmos) is a veteran musician who leads a family-based singing group, The Dinos. At a young age, he notices that his daughter Selena (played as a child by Becky Lee Meza) has a strong singing voice, and he works her into the act (her big number is a version of Over the Rainbow).

Three of William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies are produced by the irreverent, surprising, and critically-acclaimed The Drilling Company: Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It with music by Natalie Smith, and Measure for Measure. The plays feature the greatest, funniest and noblest women of the canon—Beatrice, Rosalind and Isabella—remarkable characters who, with close connections to other women, master true love and overcome misogyny and sexual harassment.

About the Artists

Carte Blanche Performance is a Brooklyn-based contemporary dance company that creates sensual, joyful works in nontraditional spaces, inviting the audience to permeate the performer's space.

The Dance Cartel proposes a new dance experience: with an extreme-dance emphasis on endurance and technical rigor, they employ the social nature of dance and the sharpness of a music video to create a fresh, vibrant and inclusive dance community.

Jordan Eagles is a New York based artist who preserves, encases, layers and suspends blood, which he then illuminates. The materials and luminosity in his bodies of work relate to themes of life, death, spirituality, science and equality.

Merche Blasco is an interdisciplinary artist and composer whose practice includes building instruments for electronic music performance, orchestrating participatory sound performances in public spaces, and electroacoustic improvisation.

Rob Roth is a multiplatform and multimedia artist and director. He uses theater, film, audio, and performance to create richly textured, lyrical and mysterious works with a critical eye on our culture.

Yael Acher "KAT" Modiano is a multi-genre flutist, composer, and educator. She works as a soloist and bandleader within classical, contemporary, and Jazz, and creating live soundtracks for films and dance

Ursula Scherrer is a Swiss multimedia and video artist living in New York City. She transforms spaces and landscapes into serene, abstract portraits of rhythm, color and light.

This photo exhibit is the result of a "people to people" cultural exchange in which the artist participated last October. The artist and group visited Havana, Cienfuegos, and Trinidad. Music and art were everywhere and the crumbling Spanish architecture made for some interesting images. The various images convey his impressions of Cuba and the Cuban people in an apolitical manner. The recent presidential visit and talk of lifting the embargo lend context to the images.

Randall's Island has a rich, unique and varied history. RIPA’s staff loves nothing more than to share this fascinating history with interested visitors. Two colossal bridges, both the largest of their kind when completed, span the island, which was once three separate land masses; these were combined by Robert Moses through landfill in the mid-1900s.
