BEHIND THE WALL (Drama, 16 minutes) Bat-Sheva Guez, director

This film uses magical realism to explore the story of an injured dancer who discovers a surprise in her new Brooklyn apartment.

CAP’N FLAPJACK AND THE CURSE OF THE STICKY ANCHOR (SciFi, 18 minutes) Josh Steinbauer, director

Cap'n Flapjack, a lonely pirate, trudges through life and work in mourning and melancholy. As the chef and messenger of a pancake delivery service, his journey ranges from the poet to the bosses. When his contract dries up, he sinks into an existential panic. Will making his final delivery be the wake-up smell he needs to move on? Shot in Brooklyn in the now-defunct Factory Studios.

STICKY FINGERS (Drama, 12 minutes) Gabriella Moses, director

Cassie embraces her edgier side under the guidance of her best friend, Lucy, by dying her hair and with it gaining new confidence over her sexuality. Shot on location all over Brooklyn.

PHOTO OP (Drama/Thriller, 10 minutes) Dave Solomon, director

CAGE (Animation, 4 minutes) Pengpeng Du, director

Life is liberty in a CAGE. CAGE represents a situation that is filled with a lot of constraints, or a habit or an addiction that is hard to get rid of. This project is to present a Chinese cultural and traditional visual style to audiences. On the other hand, CAGE tries to inspire them to recall their memory and consider what the meaning of life is to them individually. Created at Brooklyn's Pratt Institute.

WHAT'S EATING DAD? (Comedy, 10 minutes) Michael Goldburg, director

When Chloe meets her boyfriend's parents for the first time, what's really for dinner is something she never imagined. In the vein of Woody Allen meets Shaun of the Dead, WHAT'S EATING DAD? is award-winning Brooklyn filmmaker Michael Goldburg's hilariously absurd, prizewinning, horror-comedy.

The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival is the only independent, international film festival in the world dedicated to Brooklyn’s indie film scene.

Join the Village Community Boathouse for Community Rowing in traditional Whitehall gigs, captained by experienced New York Harbor coxswains (captains).

The Village Community Boathouse offers free community rowing on Sundays starting at noon and on Tuesdays starting 5:30 p.m., through November 12, 2017.

Community rowing is free and open to all; no experience or reservations necessary.

Please note: It is very important that you arrive between noon and 12:30 p.m., as the Village Community Boathouse pair their boats, coxswains, and rowers by 12:30. Boats leave right after for the afternoon. In some cases, the Villiage Community Boathouse will have additional boats leaving at a later time but the chances to get out on a boat then are much slimmer. Please check the Villiage Community Boathouse's social media feeds on Facebook or Twitter for possible last-minute changes due to weather or other circumstances. Or, call (212) 229-2059.

About Free Community Rowing
The Community Rows are free sessions that include a basic introduction to rowing for first timers (safety orientation, rowing technique, and terminology) and of course plenty of actual rowing on the Hudson River. The rows take place in five-person wooden rowboats that Village Community Boathouse builds onsite. The rows last, depending on river conditions and rower level experience, between one and three hours. Most of these rows have mixed crews with those that have never been on the river before and some old hands. Visit the Village Community Boathouse's website for more information and photos!

In 1799, a prosperous New York merchant named Archibald Gracie built a country house overlooking a bend in the East River, five miles north of the then-New York City limits. Little did he know that, more than 200 years later, his home would be serving as the official residence of the First Family of New York City—a place where history is made, not merely recorded.

As a historic house museum run by NYC Parks, sitting on 11 acres of grounds now known as Carl Schurz Park, Gracie Mansion has served as the home of 10 mayors, beginning first with Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia in 1942. Today, Gracie Mansion is occupied by the de Blasio family, which has opened its doors in the spirit of the administration's motto: one city, rising together.

In celebration of our 75th Anniversary of Gracie being a mayoral residence, Mayor de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray have introduced a new art installation, titled New York 1942. This is the second in a series of installations envisioning New York through the framework of Gracie Mansion as it has been inhabited over time. It includes artwork, documents and objects from the period that the La Guardias lived in Gracie, shown together to tell a more complete story of the overall historic context as perceived from diverse perspectives.

To RSVP for tour, please visit on.nyc.gov/gracietour.

Currently, Gracie Mansion is not offering group tours. If you are part of a private organization that would like to tour the house, please email your request, including the size of group, your name and the purpose of a tour, to gracieinfo@cityhall.nyc.gov and we will work to add you to one of the currently scheduled tours.

To RSVP for a tour, please visit on.nyc.gov/gracietour.

Curated by Audra Lambert (Antecedent Projects), Other Homes is a group exhibition that considers the role of organic materials in contemporary art, specifically art that utilizes found objects and assemblage. Marina Andrij?i?-Ojeda, Jon Bunge, Katya Grokhovsky, Rachel Hornaday and Nyugen Smith each consider the effects of natural environments on contemporary art. Their works consider our intimacy with the natural environment while examining the tension created by transforming organic matter into assembled and found artworks.

We'll be walking the beach to count the number of crabs present and tagging them to keep track of how many we've already seen as part of NYC Parks' ongoing effort to monitor their activity. This exciting work contributes to a long-term research study that is helping us to better understand and protect the horseshoe crabs that live in our urban waters. Come and take a closer look at our city’s valuable natural resources! Please come dressed in layers, clothes that can get dirty, and waterproof boots or sneakers, and bring your own water bottle.
