The objective of this exhibition is to create awareness of the multitude of talent in the Latino community of the Bronx. We have developed an international network of Latin American artists, as well as established the opportunity to exhibit the best of their works. This event hopes to inspire the creative mind and challenge the contemporary global art community. This group exhibition presents art as an expression of the human condition—reflecting notions of progress, civilization, welfare, society, and culture. The event is family oriented and celebrates not only the richness of the Latin American art but also the diversity of our community.

Students split into groups according to their level of expertise, exploring movements at their own pace, whether as beginners or as more advanced students of Tai Chi. Throughout history, scarecrows have been the guardians of gardens. Sculptor and artist Ray Villafane returns to New York Botanical Garden to create an original installation that explores the evolution of the scarecrow in the United States, from its everyday role in agriculture to its status as a cultural icon in films and comic books.

This art display, presented by the Tri State Cadillac Dealers, features larger-than-life sculptures crafted from natural materials and set amidst the Garden’s landscape.

"Don't expose him to bright light. Don't ever get him wet. And don't ever, ever feed him after midnight." This sage advice is ignored midway through Gremlins, with devastating results. This comic Joe Dante effort is set in a Norman Rockwell-esque small town at Christmastime. Seeking a unique gift for his son an erstwhile inventor (Hoyt Axton) purchases a cute, fuzzy little "Mogwai" from a Chinatown shopkeeper's (Keye Luke) grandson (John Louie), who dispenses the above-mentioned warning before closing the deal. Meanwhile, young bank clerk Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) must suffer such antagonists as rich-bitch Mrs. Deagle (Polly Holliday) and priggish Gerald (Judge Reinhold) while pursuing his romance with Kate (Phoebe Cates). These and a variety of other plot strands are tied together when the lovable mogwai (named Gizmo) is exposed to bright light and gotten wet. In short order, the town is invaded by nasty, predatory Gremlins, who lay waste to everything in sight as Billy and Kate try to contain the destruction.

Urban Park Rangers specialize in the interpretation of historic turning points, both natural and man-made, in our city’s long history. Historic New York programs highlight the history and architecture of selected neighborhoods or parks.

Water is life! During New York's early years, clean water was paramount to the success of our great metropolis. The Croton Aqueduct brought the water we needed to combat disease and fire. Hike across the High Bridge with the Urban Park Rangers and learn how New York City's oldest bridge actually brought water from the Bronx to Manhattan and allowed our city to grow into the 20th century.

Did you know that the north end of Central Park has a rich history that includes the British having been stationed here during the American Revolution, and American troops stationed there during the War of 1812? Recent archaeological and historical investigations in the area have revealed even more information about how the "Fort Landscape" was used in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, before this area was part of Central Park. This season, join our guides and learn the history of this part of the park, get insight into the studies in the area, and appreciate the recent restorations undertaken by the Conservancy.

Highlights of this tour include McGowan's Pass, Fort Clinton, Nutter's Battery, and the Harlem Meer.

The tour route involves many hills and stairs, and some uneven terrain. The tour starts at Charles A. Dana Discovery Center (inside the park at 110th Street between Fifth and Lenox Avenues), and ends near the park perimeter at 106th Street and Fifth Avenue.

For weather cancellation and other ticket policies, please review the Central Park Conservancy's policies carefully.

For Birding, her new installation at 99 Plymouth, artist Hilary Lorenz made bi-weekly, bird-watching trips to Brooklyn Bridge Park and documented her findings by creating linoleum block prints of the various birds. Colorful prints of mergansers, seagulls, mallard ducks, and more can be found throughout 99 Plymouth. The interactive piece in the Community Room allows participants to make their own additions to the installation. During this workshop, Lorenz will lead demonstrations of carving and printing a linoleum block on a portable printing press, after which visitors will be invited to ink pre-cut blocks and create their own bird image to add to the installation.
