Join NYC Parks and the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment for a free film!

In this reimagining of the classic collection of stories by Rudyard Kipling, director Jon Favreau uses visually stunning CGI to create the community of animals surrounding Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a human boy adopted by a pack of wolves. The appearance of a villainous tiger named Shere Khan (voiced byIdris Elba) forces Mowgli's guardian, the panther Bagheera (Ben Kingsley), to shepherd the child to safety in the "man village." Along the way, the boy meets an affable, lazy bear named Baloo (Bill Murray), as well as a snake with hypnotic powers (Scarlett Johansson) and an orangutan (Christopher Walken) who wants to harness the power of fire. Lupita Nyong'o, Giancarlo Esposito, and Garry Shandling also lend their voices to this adventure tale. Author: Tom Ciampoli

Come learn about Jane Jacobs and how her influence spread beyond Manhattan, and inspired environmental restoration and neighborhood revitalization efforts in the Bronx.

Like Jane Jacobs, Bronx activists had to deal with Moses’ expressway and auto-oriented plans. Moses was even more dismissive of Bronx neighborhoods than of SoHo or the West Village, but in the 1960s the Bronx hadn’t developed the clout with which to force a rerouting of the Cross-Bronx Expressway (which we see in the distance)–but this would soon change.

Sculptor and artist Ray Villafane returns to New York Botanical Garden to create an original installation that explores the evolution of the scarecrow in the United States, from its everyday role in agriculture to its status as a cultural icon in films and comic books.

This art display, presented by the Tri State Cadillac Dealers, features larger-than-life sculptures crafted from natural materials and set amidst the Garden’s landscape.

Did you know that the north end of Central Park has a rich history that includes the British having been stationed here during the American Revolution, and American troops stationed there during the War of 1812? We have developed an international network of Latin American artists, as well as established the opportunity to exhibit the best of their works. This event hopes to inspire the creative mind and challenge the contemporary global art community. This group exhibition presents art as an expression of the human condition—reflecting notions of progress, civilization, welfare, society, and culture. The event is family oriented and celebrates not only the richness of the Latin American art but also the diversity of our community.

Throughout history, scarecrows have been the guardians of gardens.

Explore the detailed display during the day, discover its surprises after dark, and enjoy special experiences on select dates from Cadillac.

The objective of this exhibition is to create awareness of the multitude of talent in the Latino community of the Bronx.
