This season, the Public Theater's Mobile Unit presents a new, world-class production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet to audiences and community venues across New York City. Olivier Award winner Chukwudi Iwuji (The Histories, King Lear at The Public) plays the anguished prince of Denmark who is confronted at every turn with a poisonous power structure that's robbed him of his father, and forever darkened his understanding of the world. Inspired by The Mobile Unit’s unique approach to engaging diverse communities with the arts, Patricia McGregor (Hurt Village, brownsville song (b-side for tray) at Lincoln Center) directs this bold take on Shakespeare's immortal tale about family, deceit and the explosive consequences of unchecked corruption.

Three of William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies are produced by the irreverent, surprising, and critically-acclaimed The Drilling Company—Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It with music by Natalie Smith, and Measure for Measure.

The plays feature the greatest, funniest, and noblest women of the canon—Beatrice, Rosalind and Isabella—remarkable characters, who, with close connections to other women, master true love and overcome misogyny and sexual harassment.

In this superhero epic, political interference in the Avengers' activities cause a rift between former allies, Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.). Their disagreement eventually escalates into all-out war when Cap's old friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), now a brainwashed assassin known as the Winter Soldier, reenters the picture. Captain America: Civil War brings back former Avengers characters such as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Vision (Paul Bettany); it also drags into the fray low-rent superhero Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and introduces both the powerful African prince Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and a new, younger incarnation of Spider-Man.

When the kids sneak into inventor Wayne Szalinski's upstairs lab to retrieve an errant baseball, his experimental shrink ray miniaturizes them. When Szalinski returns home, he destroys the device—which he thinks is a failure—and dumps it in the trash, throwing out the kids along with it. The four children, now 1/4-inch tall, must survive the journey back to the house through a yard where sprinklers bring treacherous storms and garden-variety ants stampede like elephants.

In this superhero epic, the denizens of the Marvel Universe are forced to pick sides when Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) come to blows over ideological differences. After a mission involving a new Avengers squad led by Cap ends with several civilian casualties in Lagos, the team are asked to sign an agreement that would force them to take orders from a United Nations panel. Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) pressures Cap to accept this new arrangement, in part because he feels deeply guilty about his own past recklessness; Captain America, however, fears that the Avengers will only be corrupted by bureaucracy. Their disagreement eventually escalates into all-out war when Cap's old friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), now a brainwashed assassin known as the Winter Soldier, reenters the picture. Captain America: Civil War brings back former Avengers characters such as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Vision (Paul Bettany); it also drags into the fray low-rent superhero Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and introduces both the powerful African prince Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and a new, younger incarnation of Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

On the occasion of their collaboration with Juanli Carrion's public artwork OSS#02, the shadow performance group Cave Dogs will perform "Sure-Minded Uncertainties", which explores how immigration and the interplay of materialism, spiritualism, technology, and stewardship of the earth shapes our modern world.

A range of fantastical characters acting as modern day archetypes navigate a series of transformations through five short stories interweaving their fundamentally similar, but often out of place worlds. The work, when viewed in its entirety, forms a collective narrative that addresses mankind’s complicated relationship to each other, nature, and its resources. "Sure-Minded Uncertainties" uses innovative, visual effects and an original soundtrack to create a rich experience that documents and preserves important cultural voices and stories.

Cave Dogs brings together visual artists, puppeteers, musicians, dancers, storytellers, and writers in the spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration. Their medium evolves out of two ancient traditions: shadow puppet theatre and storytelling—and several contemporary art forms including film, video, sound, computer-generated animation, and performance art to create multiple, richly-layered visual tableaus, and produce effects that conjure both the dreamlike quality of early experimental film and the humor of contemporary animation.

We invite the audience to both de-construct these shadowy illusions while they are caught up in the intriguing layers of effects.

At Freshkills Park's Discovery Day, 700 acres and eight miles of trails in the otherwise closed site will be open, providing opportunities to explore and learn about the world's largest landfill-to-park project.

Visitors of all ages can bring their own bicycle or borrow one at the park to bike across five miles of paved roadway, including a three-mile loop along meadows and wetland ponds. NYC Audubon, the Staten Island Greenbelt, and others will lead educational walking tours. Due to tide restrictions, kayaking will not be available at this event.

A free shuttle will make trips to and from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George (Ramp E, Taxi Stand) during the event. Parking will be just outside Freshkills Park in the lots near 350 Wild Avenue in Staten Island. From there, visitors can take a free shuttle bus or walk or bike one mile to the main event area.

Presented by NYC Parks, NYC Department of Sanitation, and the Freshkills Park Alliance.

About Freshkills Park
At 2,200 acres, Freshkills Park is almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park to be developed in New York City in over 100 years. It also has a significant history as the site of the former Fresh Kills Landfill, which was the largest landfill in the world before closing in 2001. Since then, the landfill has been covered with layers of soil and infrastructure, and the site has become a place for wildlife, recreation, science, education, and art. As the park is built in phases, free tours and events provide early access for learning and exploration opportunities.

Join the mailing list and follow @freshkillspark on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more details. For information about volunteering at the event, email fkpvolunteers@parks.nyc.gov.

Please join us for the 32nd annual Medieval Festival in Fort Tryon Park. This festival brings to life the customs and spirit of the Middle Ages.

Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. Performers, guests, and festival goers dress in medieval costume. Visitors are greeted by authentic period music, dance, magic, and minstrels, as well as jugglers and jesters. The afternoon is concluded with a thrilling joust between four knights on horseback. Costumed vendors will be on hand to demonstrate and sell a wide variety of medieval crafts as well as food and drink. Experience the culture of a bygone era against the backdrop of the Cloisters museum and the Hudson River during autumn's peak. We invite all ages to join us for this unique experience.

The festival is held in the area surrounding the world famous Cloisters, a magnificent museum of medieval art located in northern Manhattan.

The event is free but Medieval crafts, clothing, etc., and food will be available for purchase.

Please note: There will be no ATM's on site at the festival.

Most areas are wheelchair accessible; however, persons with mobility issues may experience difficulty maneuvering on lawn areas.

Smiling Hogshead Ranch is excited to invite you to our first-ever Harvest Festival, an action-packed event for all ages, featuring cooking workshops, carnival-style games, community cook-off, a raffle, and more!

Over the past five years we have grown from a guerrilla garden into a legitimate NYC urban farm and community space that hosts dozens of free public events and skillshares each year!

We hope to see you on Sunday, September 18!

All proceeds raised will support the Ranch, including paying our annual insurance fees, supporting school tours of the garden, constructing a new greenhouse for season extension, and designing a new community tool-lending library we hope to roll out in 2017!
