Described as “outstanding” by Albany’s Times Union, these musicians are acclaimed for the exuberant communicativeness with which they play. Recent highlights include the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Los Alamos Concerts, Merkin Concert Hall, the Vancouver Recital Society, the Ravinia Festival and Chicago’s radio station WFMT. The members of the Brown-Urioste-Canellakis Trio are composer-pianist Michael Brown, violinist Elena Urioste and cellist Nicholas Canellakis. Joining the ensemble is guest clarinetist Alex Fiterstein. The Wave Hill program will be a blend of traditional chamber works by Debussy and Fauré, and a movement from Olivier Messaien’s 20th Century landmark work, Quartet for the End of Time. The centerpiece of the program is the world premiere of a new work by composer-pianist Michael Brown commissioned by Wave Hill. Sounds of nature will resonate inside Armor Hall as the inspiration for these two contemporary works.

The Guyon Tavern (circa 1819) serves up an authentic 19th century acoustic music experience with a warm and resonant sound quality that is rarely found anymore, thanks to the original aged wood and plaster, and the unmistakable handmade construction.

About Harbortown

Award-winning songwriter Bob Wright, a multi-instrumentalist steeped in the American musical roots traditions often referred to as Americana, presents an evening of songs about Staten Island and its harbor environs. Bob sets the stage with vocals, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and songwriting. He is joined by Bill Doerge on double bass, guitar, 12 string guitar, accordion, piano, keyboards, and vocals; Bob Conroy on vocals, banjo, guitar; and Jan Christensen on vocals, and 6 and 12 string guitars. This coterie of musical friends presents an evening of mountain music that meets the sea.

A native of Staten Island, Bob has been playing music since childhood. His songs are often mistaken for traditional songs because their immigrant roots run deep beneath the surface of America and back to the places they came from for nurturing and inspiration. They surface in a modern world, constructed with a modern sensibility and a comforting resonance with the past..

All performances are at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
