Ann Schein is a pianist who “simply reaches right into the heart of whatever she is playing – and creates music so powerful you cannot tear yourself away ." (The Washington Post). Her amazing career has earned her high praise in major American and European cities and in more than 50 countries around the world. Since her debut in Mexico City in 1957 when she performed both the Rachmaninoff 3rd Concerto and the Tchaikovsky B-flat Concerto, she has performed thousands of concerts on every continent. She offers works for solo piano by Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninoff and J.P. Redmond. Redmond is a rising young composer and Yonkers resident, and will attend the concert.

Performances begin at 2:00 p.m. and last approximately one hour with no intermission.

The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit and Joe’s Pub at The Public present Imani Uzuri’s Love Story: Songs of Laughter, Loss and Resilience, a concert of the composer’s original music. Imani was most recently the composer of the Mobile Unit’s fall 2016 production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The Mobile Unit continues The Public’s commitment to bring free Shakespeare to communities with limited or no access to the arts by taking plays on tour to correctional facilities, homeless shelters, social service organizations and more. Part of the Mobile Unit and Joe’s Pub’s collaborative series, In Transit, Uzuri’s show will tour community venues and correctional facilities and culminate with a show at Joe’s Pub on Saturday, February 18 at 7:00PM.
