We'll be joining experts from the New York Mycological Society touring the island to search for mushrooms and other fungi that can be found on Randall's Island.

The cool moist weather of fall is when many fungi begin to fruit, and is the only time they'll be visible above ground in order to spread their spores. These mysterious but potent organisms have the ability to break down pollution and rebuild the environment, functioning as natures nervous system and making nutrients availible in soil.
