Join us this summer for special movie screenings of Ingmar Bergman films, part of a worldwide celebration to mark the 100-year anniversary of the birth of renowned director and writer Ingmar Bergman (1918 - 2007).

Seventh Seal
Disillusioned and exhausted after a decade of battling in the Crusades, a knight (Max von Sydow) encounters Death on a desolate beach and challenges him to a fateful game of chess. Much studied, imitated, even parodied, but never outdone, Bergman’s stunning allegory of man’s search for meaning, The Seventh Seal (Det sjunde inseglet), was one of the benchmark foreign imports of America’s 1950s art-house heyday, pushing cinema’s boundaries and ushering in a new era of moviegoing.

Join NYC Parks for the closing event of the public artwork LINOUQ by Capucine Bourcart. From 2008 to 2012, Capucine Bourcart walked every street in Manhattan, from State Street to 220th Street, taking photographic details of walls along her route. This collection of photographs was used to create a photo-assemblage made of 4,170 metal squares that has hung from a chain link fence in a design inspired by Native Americans, the island’s first inhabitants.

The closing will feature a performance by Delwin Fiddler, Jr. of Lakota Performing Arts Program, with Native American flute, grass dance, and double beat.

This exhibition is made possible by the Art in the Parks: UNIQLO Park Expressions Grant, which supports the creation of artworks by New York City-based emerging artists at 10 parks that are highly visible, but underserved by cultural programming. The UNIQLO grant program will transform these locations into engaging art destinations with a series of rotating exhibitions and community events through 2019.

From Friday, June 1 to Sunday, July 8, 2018, visitors of City Hall Park can experience an immersive soundscape composed entirely of the sounds of breathing. The recording is a rather unusual composition drawn from such sounds as rustles, crackles, beats, huffs, and delicate inhaling and exhaling, that fade in and out of the sounds of the city.

Out of Thin Air, a public art installation by the Brooklyn-based artist Sari Carel, commissioned and produced by More Art, a leading presenter of public art in New York City, invites New Yorkers to think about breathing in all its intimacy and enormity. The sound expands to and informs the environment, creating a rich sensory journey up to City Hall, while addressing important issues relating to air quality and wellness.

6:00-7:00 | Guided Sound Walks for guests

Experience a guided “eyes-closed” tour of the immersive sound installation. Visit Out of Thin Air and enjoy a blindfolded guided walk through the soundscape led by one of our docents. Receive a free, limited edition, More Art blindfold while supplies last. All ages welcome. Guardian supervision required.

Join NYC Parks and the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival for these free films! The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival is the only independent, international film festival in the world dedicated to Brooklyn’s indie film scene.

Celebrate independent film at this party and movie screening featuring DJ Sugarfree BK, raffles, giveaways, and shorts from the Alumni of the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival at sundown. These films represent some of the most exciting new filmmakers in the Brooklyn indie film scene.

Behind the Wall (Drama, 16 minutes) Bat-Sheva Guez, director

This film uses magical realism to explore the story of an injured dancer who discovers a surprise in her new Brooklyn apartment.

Cap'n Flapjack and the Curse of the Sticky Anchor (SciFi, 18 minutes) Josh Steinbauer, director

Cap'n Flapjack, a lonely pirate, trudges through life and work in mourning and melancholy. As the chef and messenger of a pancake delivery service, his journey ranges from the poet to the bosses. When his contract dries up, he sinks into an existential panic. Will making his final delivery be the wake-up smell he needs to move on? Shot in Brooklyn in the now-defunct Factory Studios.

Sticky Fingers (Drama, 12 minutes) Gabriella Moses, director

Cassie embraces her edgier side under the guidance of her best friend, Lucy, by dying her hair and with it gaining new confidence over her sexuality. Shot on location all over Brooklyn.

Photo Op (Drama/Thriller, 10 minutes) Dave Solomon, director

A lonely Brooklyn photographer (Randy Harrison, "Queer as Folk"), who enjoys capturing candid couples on film, has his eyes set on a specific someone who he has been watching from afar (Aaron Lazar, "Wolf of Wall Street").

Cage (Animation, 4 minutes) Pengpeng Du, director

Life is liberty in a cage. Cage represents a situation that is filled with a lot of constraints, or a habit, or an addiction that is hard to get rid of. This project is to present a Chinese cultural and traditional visual style to audiences. On the other hand, Cage tries to inspire them to recall their memory and consider what the meaning of life is to them individually. Created at Brooklyn's Pratt Institute.

What's Eating Dad? (Comedy, 10 minutes) Michael Goldburg, director

When Chloe meets her boyfriend's parents for the first time, what's really for dinner is something she never imagined. In the vein of Woody Allen meets Shaun of the Dead, What's Eating Dad? is award-winning Brooklyn filmmaker Michael Goldburg's hilariously absurd, prizewinning, horror-comedy.

The Bronx is both a place and a collection of metaphors, a peninsula attached to the mainland in a city of islands. In many ways, it is defined by its diversities—social, demographic, geographic and temporal. Hospitals, museums, universities, formal gardens, beaches, parks, and historical sites are prominent features of the landscape. Massive public housing developments, neighborhoods of six-story apartment buildings and private homes, and bucolic landscapes surrounding long-standing estates can be found within the borders of the Bronx.

The photographers represented in this exhibit are connected to the Bronx by birth, residency, work, or affinity. Each has a unique history, a particular point of view, and an evolving personal story. Who we are as individuals and as a group is represented in this exhibit. We are creating a photographic archive of the Bronx. The Bronx Photographers Collaborative hopes these images speak to, inform, provoke, and inspire you to join us in documenting, celebrating, and advocating for the borough that means so much to us and has contributed so much to who we are.
