Old Croton Aqueduct Trail

Aqueduct Walk

The aqueduct makes a mostly straight run between the Jerome Park Reservoir and High Bridge. It can be seen above ground at Aqueduct Walk (which extends between Kingsbridge Rd. and Burnside Ave.). The best view of it is in front of Bronx Community College. The rough stone walls that slope down from the sidewalk? These are the outer walls of the aqueduct tunnel.

  • Goulden Avenue/Kingsbridge Road south to Aqueduct Walk (this narrow car–free park runs parallel to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard)
  • Aqueduct Walk south to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard at W. Tremont (the walkway gets narrow here)
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard becomes University Avenue, take this to 170th Street

Nearest Train Station:

The 4 train will let you off all along the Aqueduct Walk. Go to the Kingsbridge Road, Fordham Road, 183rd Street or Burnside Avenue stations; walk about four blocks to the west.
