Description: Join NYC Parks Stewardship and the Natural Areas Conservancy for a tour New York City’s only Ecology Park, located in the Paerdegat Basin Natural Area Preserve. Enjoy a guided tour of the 15 different plant communities found all across New York City, in one location. The park includes a pedestrian walkway, viewing platforms and has been planted diversely to highlight the variety of plant communities that can be found around Jamaica Bay. Some of the communities you will see are a low lying salt marsh habitat dominated by a monoculture of cordgrass (spartina alterniflora), and a maritime grassland community teeming with biodiversity. The tour will last approximately 1 hour
