Alfred E. Smith Recreation Center: Big Apple Hard Core

Shape Up NYC is a free, drop-in fitness program with locations across the five boroughs. You do not need to be a member of a recreation center in order to attend a class, though you must bring a lock for classes held at recreation centers. Our fitness instructors know how to make fitness fun!

Description: Pilates and core exercises, as well as, glutes and lower body workouts. Core exercises include; planks, crunches, heel taps, mountain climbers, Russian twists, side bridges, etc... Lower body and glutes consist of; squats, deadlifts, several types of lunges (side, curtsy, forward, backward, sumo etc…) and variations of bridges (weighted glute bridge, stability ball bridge, decline stability ball bridge etc…).
