Arts, Culture & Fun: Mary Wells, The Tumultuous Life of Motown's First Superstar

Peter Benjaminson is a Harlem resident, Motown enthusiast and author of The Story of Motown and The Lost Supreme: The Life of Dreamgirl Florence Ballard. He will discuss the life and career of Mary Wells, her struggles to survive, to achieve happiness, to break away from Motown Records and to recover from that separation. He will play audio recordings of Mary Wells' performances, and excerpts from her interview that forms the basis for his recently published book.
