Celebrate Manhattan's only remaining lighthouse with readings of the eponymous children's book, fishing clinics, live music, food and art vendors, Urban Park Ranger presentations, and activities for all ages!
This year, we will be offering transportation to the Lighthouse by NYC Parks shuttle. The shuttle van will be available at 181st Street and Fort Washington Avenue. The shuttle will depart from the meeting point to the Lighthouse on the hour starting at 11:00 a.m., and will return passengers to 181st Street from the festival site on the half hour.
Due to the West 180th St. pedestrian bridge closure at Fort Washington Park, access to the Lighthouse has changed.
For pedestrian access from the south, enter the park at 158th street and walk north along the Hudson River Greenway to the George Washington Bridge, where the Lighthouse is located.
For pedestrian access from northern Washington Heights or Inwood, walk south one block at 181st and Riverside Drive. At the end of the sidewalk take the tunnel under the Henry Hudson Parkway Northbound. Make a left at the end of the tunnel and follow the signed rustic path to the W. 172nd Street Pedestrian Bridge over the Amtrak tracks. Continue north to the Lighthouse along the Greenway.
For bicycle access and more information about the closure, please visit the Fort Washington Park page on our site.

The Fort Washington Pedestrian Bridge, or "Amtrak Bridge," at West 180th Street is temporarily closed as we work with NYC DOT and Amtrak to repair the support structure and the surface decking. Repairs should be complete by mid-November depending upon weather and site conditions. Detour: If you are approaching the Amtrak bridge from the north, please use the 181st Street pedestrian bridge over the Henry Hudson Parkway at Riverside Drive to access local streets. You can re-enter the Greenway at either West 158th Street and the Henry Hudson Parkway or at West 153rd Street and Riverside Drive via the Herman “Denny” Farrell Pedestrian Bridge. If you are approaching the bridge from the south, please exit the Greenway at either West 158th Street and the Henry Hudson Parkway or at West 153rd Street and Riverside Drive via the Herman “Denny” Farrell Pedestrian Bridge. You can re-enter the Greenway via the 181st Street pedestrian bridge over the Henry Hudson Parkway at Riverside Drive. Please follow us @nycparks on Twitter or check this page again for updates as soon as we know when the bridge will re-open.
