Urban Park Rangers specialize in the interpretation of historic turning points, both natural and man-made, in our city’s long history.
Join the Urban Park Rangers as we discuss the highlights of past, present, and future of parks in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Walk with the Urban Park Rangers from East River Park to Seward Park as we explore the newly renovated park on the Lower East Side. Participants will explore how the Parks Without Borders approach allows parks to be more open, welcoming, sustainable, and beautiful by improving entrances, equipment, edges, and park adjacent spaces. Stops will include: Luther Gulick Park, Henry M. Jackson Playground, and Sol Lain Playground.
Participants are chosen by lottery. To enter into the lottery, visit the Urban Park Ranger Registration Page. Lottery registration begins on Wednesday, April 7.
Please note: We are offering outdoor programs with limited attendance so that you can have a safe and enjoyable time in parks. Based on New York State guidance for sports and recreation during COVID-19, we’ve put protocols into place to keep our participants and staff safe and healthy. We're asking everyone to help us stay safe:
- Stay home if you're sick
- Maintain six feet of physical distance between households
- Wear a face covering
- Wash your hands
Additionally, we encourage participants to bring their own hand sanitizer to our programs.
