Historic New York: The Hell Gate Waterway
Saturday, November 30, 2019
1:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m.
The Hell Gate channel, formed by faults deep underground, contains some of the deepest water in New York Harbor. Its treacherous reefs bear picturesque names such as “Hen and Chickens,” “Pot Rock,” “Bread & Cheese,” and “Bald Headed Billy." Join the Rangers on this tour of Astoria Park and significant events influenced by the Hell Gate.
