Show Your Park Some Love, New York!
Help keep our parks litter-free by putting trash in a bag or carrying it out with you!
In these difficult times, New York City’s parks are being used more than ever before. They’re our gathering spaces, our gyms and playgrounds, and our places to relax and reconnect with nature safely. Unfortunately, more park users can mean more litter, and we're counting on you to help pitch in and remind everyone to show your park some love!
Help keep our parks clean, safe, and beautiful for all to enjoy by putting trash in a can or bag or taking it with you.
How You Can Help
If you're looking to pitch in and give back, but don't know how to get started, we're here to help! Here are some quick ways that you and your friends can join in the park clean-up effort.
Become a Litter Ambassador!
NYC Parks is looking for Litter Ambassadors – caring New Yorkers who distribute garbage bags to neighbors at their local park and guide them in properly disposing of their trash. Litter Ambassadors volunteer a couple of hours throughout the summer. Your invaluable help will make parks cleaner, safer and greener for our families, pets, friends and neighbors.
Volunteer on a Clean-Up Project
NYC Parks and Partnerships for Parks together host hundreds of volunteer clean-up projects in local parks every year. You can reach out to one of our partners, or find an upcoming event in your neighborhood! Meet your neighbors and help pitch in!
Become an NYC Parks Steward
Want to get off the beaten path? Our Parks Stewards help clean up and restore natural areas, such as forests and wetlands, plant seeds, and preserve wildlife. They also help plant and care for trees in parks, forests, and neighborhoods across the city. Find an upcoming event, or work with us to create an event for your existing group!
Join the Jr. Litter League
This spring, your youth service team can show they have what it takes to keep our city clean! Teams of up to 15 youths and three adult leaders will compete to care for local parks and win fun prizes, all while learning about the environment!
