DIGITAL EARTH WEEK: NYC PARKS CELEBRATES EARTH DAY ONLINE WITH PARKS@HOME
Parks@Home promotes environmental awareness and connects New Yorkers with nature during Earth Week with virtual tours, fitness, meditation, and fun activities for the whole family
NYC Parks is bringing the 50th Earth Day celebration directly to New Yorkers who are staying home to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by offering unique opportunities to engage with the great outdoors via Parks@Home--on our website and across all social platforms.
During our celebration, we are taking a look back at some of the public parks created since the first Earth Day. Since April 22, 1970, we've opened more than 200 parks, transforming industrial waterfronts into scenic destinations, preserving green spaces against development, and turning vacant lots into vibrant parkland.
Parks@Home extends beyond Earth Day. It's the perfect solution for those looking to connect with nature and promote environmental awareness in a safe and responsible way, with live Ranger tours, meditation moments, and more.
New Yorkers can join Parks in celebrating Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 24) throughout the week! Through Parks@Home, we will bring awareness to the importance of #climateaction, celebrating green spaces, and by taking small but impactful steps towards making a difference. Follow @nycparks on Twitter or Facebook for posts, live broadcasts, and stories all week long.
LIVE broadcasts are scheduled to take place at 12:00 p.m (weather permitting); times are subject to change. For updates and more information, visit nyc.gov/parks.
