Park and Facility Closures

ParkHighbridge Park

As of April 18, the High Bridge is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. High Bridge hours will change seasonally.

BeachesOrchard Beach and Promenade

Orchard Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

ParkSoundview Park

Portions of this park will be closed to bring an exciting and playful space for children, teenagers and adults to play. The new Metcalf Playground will bring an exciting and playful space for children, teenagers and adults to play and recreate.

BathroomsBill Brown Memorial Playground

Anticipated Completion: Summer 2016

Bill Brown Memorial Playground is under construction. This project will reconstruct the comfort station.

BeachesBrighton Beach

Brighton Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

BeachesConey Island and Coney Island Boardwalk

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2017

Coney Island Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

ParkDome Playground

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2016

Dome Playground is currently closed for reconstruction.

Recreation CentersHerbert Von King Cultural Arts Center

Effective April 11, 2015, the Herbert Von King Cultural Arts Center will be closed until renovations are complete. Parks will continue to serve the Bed-Stuy community by offering quality activities during the exciting renovations to the Center. As part of this preserved programming, there will be a host of recreational activities on weekdays after school in April and May, weekends in May and June, and weekdays in July and August. The programs will range from fitness classes and arts, to bike riding and games for all ages.

Outdoor PoolsKosciuszko

Anticipated Completion: 08/30/2016

Kosciuszko Pool will be closed through Tuesday, August 30, 2016 for maintenance.

BeachesManhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

Tennis CourtsMarine Park

Marine Park's tennis courts will be closed for the season due to construction.

Recreation CentersMetropolitan Recreation Center

Anticipated Completion: 10/08/2016

Beginning Sunday, September 18, the center will be closed for renovations. We will resume normal operating hours on Sunday, October 9. Thank you for your patience.

ParkRed Hook Recreation Area

NYC Parks is committed to making sure all parks are safe and healthy environments. Parks is continuing to work with EPA as they test the Redhook Ballfields for contamination. In the interim, we expect softball/baseball fields 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be closed until a clean-up plan is completed, and soccer fields 1, 2, 6 and 9 will be tested further.

ParkTaaffe Playground

Due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, this park is closed until further notice.

ParkAsser Levy Playground

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2016

The fitness equipment, ping pong tables, and a portion of the track are temporarily closed at Asser Levy Playground in order for the Department of Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System to build a protective floodwall. The multi-purpose field and two-thirds of the track will remain open during construction.

ParkCentral Park

The Arsenal Gallery is temporarily closed. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please join us on October 19, 2016 for the opening of "My Father’s Son: Photographs by Irwin Silver and Mitchell J. Silver".

Recreation CentersChelsea Recreation Center

The elevator is currently out of service. We apologize for the inconvenience.

ParkCrack Is Wack Playground

Anticipated Completion: Winter 2020

Keith Haring's Crack is Wack mural will not be available for viewing during reconstruction of the Harlem River Drive, expected to be completed by the end of 2019. It is currently enclosed by a protective shelter.

ParkFort Tryon Park

Anticipated Completion: Fall 2016

The path and stairs in Fort Tryon Park that lead to the Cloisters are currently closed for repairs. The construction project is in the bidding cycle. Railings and lighting will be installed as part of the project, which is anticipated to go into construction in the fall of 2016.

Recreation CentersHansborough Recreation Center

The basketball gymnasium will be closed for renovation beginning Monday, October 17. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Nature CentersInwood Hill Nature Center

Due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, this facility is closed until further notice.

Kayak/Canoe Launch SitesRiverside Park (72nd Street)

The kayak launch site at 72nd Street in Riverside Park is closed for the season. Please visit The New York City Water Trail page to find other kayak launches.

ParkStuyvesant Square

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2016

Stuyvesant Square Park is under construction. This project will reconstruction the east section fence and perimeter sidewalk.

Kayak/Canoe Launch SitesWest Harlem Piers

Anticipated Completion: Winter 2017

The kayak launch at West Harlem Piers is closed indefinitely for repairs.

ParkEvergreen Park

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2016

Evergreen Park is currently under construction. This project will demolish the bocce and shuffleboard courts, install play equipment, and reconstruct the spray shower.

ParkFort Totten Park

The visitor center at Fort Totten Park will be closed on Saturday, October 29.

BeachesRockaway Beach and Boardwalk

Rockaway Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

Cedar Grove Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

BeachesMidland Beach and Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk

Midland Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

Recreation CentersOcean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex

Anticipated Completion: 10/10/2016

Please be advised that Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will be closed on Sunday, October 9th due to road closures in the surrounding area. Also, on Monday, October 10th (Columbus Day) Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will be closing at 5:00pm. The facility will be open at 6:00am and will be closed at 5:00pm in observance of the holiday. All programming scheduled before 5:00pm that day will run as planned.

Tennis CourtsWillowbrook Park

The tennis courts at Willowbrook Park Tennis Courts have been closed indefinitely in order to repair the asphalt.

BeachesWolfe's Pond Beach

Wolfe’s Pond Beach is closed for swimming for the season.

Roller HockeyWolfe's Pond Park

Due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, the Wolfe's Pond hockey rink is closed until further notice.
