MEDIA COVERAGE IN CENTRAL PARK DURING THE GATES, A TEMPORARY WORK OF ART BY NEW YORK ARTISTS CHRISTO AND JEANNE-CLAUDE

To accommodate media coverage of The Gates, Central Park, New York City, 1979-2005 the artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude will have a press trailer located at 72nd Street and 5th Avenue beginning Thursday, February 3. Although specific credentials are not required to film in the Park, media is encouraged to check-in at this site to obtain information and project materials.
Due to the high volume of media and pedestrian traffic in the Park during The Gates, we ask all press to pay particular attention to existing Park rules and regulations.
- No vehicles will be permitted in the Park. All media are required to park outside of Central Park and walk in with any equipment, unless granted a permit by the Parks & Recreation press office.
- No set up is permitted on the Park lawns (tripods, lights, etc.).
- Please do not attempt to interview any staff members while they are at work on the project. Their work involves a high level of concentration. Any requests to interview workers should be arranged ahead of time.
- Contact the Parks press office in advance to request any special arrangements regarding your coverage, such as equipment set up in the park.
The Gates will be displayed along 23 miles of paved paths throughout Central Park from Saturday, February 12 through Sunday, February 27, 2005. Park hours are dawn until 1:00 a.m.
