Free Summer Activities for Kids
Here's a list of free facilities and programs around New York City where kids can learn new things and have fun this summer:
Have some fun in the sun! Bring the kids to one of our 55 free outdoor pools, with lifeguards and Parks staff on duty.
We're offering free meals to children under 19 years of age at most of our parks, playgrounds, and pools. An ID is not required.
Our staff lead four to seven hours of free activities, including organized sports, games, and fitness demos, in some parks and playgrounds.
Want to get the kids outside? This program offers free, intensive sports lessons for kids of all ages at select parks across New York City.
During the summer we offer free Learn to Swim classes in all five boroughs. Experienced swimmers can join a swim team at a rec center.
Our free digital arts programs teach kids and teens helpful tools for multimedia, arts, and digital technology.
During the summer, our Urban Park Rangers host free overnight camping adventures in our parks. We'll teach you how to set up a tent and start a fire before we take you on a night hike through the park. We'll bring the tents and s'mores!
We're hosting free movie nights in parks across New York City. Pack a picnic and come enjoy a free movie screening under the stars.
Rec center memberships for kids are free! There are centers in every borough with basketball courts, libraries, game rooms, dance studios, and fun activities that kids will love. Find a rec center near you and click through to the schedule to see what the center offers.
