Shape Up NYC: Tai Chi

Originally used to train soldiers, Tai Chi is now more commonly practiced as an internal art — a way of focusing the mind, while training the body — meditation thru movement.

 

Tai Chi (perhaps surprisingly) provides an excellent full-body workout while also being relaxing, and can easily be maintained as a healthy life-long practice.  The countless benefits of Tai Chi include increased strength, conditioning, balance, coordination, flexibility, stamina, range of motion, bone density, joint lubrication, and mind/body connection; reducing blood pressure, pain, stiffness, and stress hormones — all of which extends to less injurous falls, more confidence, peace of mind throughout the day, and improved sleep at night.
