White Oak in Raoul Wallenberg Forest

To find the white oak in Raoul Wallenberg Forest, take the trail that leaves Palisades Avenue 1/10 mile north of West 232nd Street. Hike 500 feet up to the dead trunk of the copper beech, then turn and walk 200 feet southeast. This white oak is associated with General U Thant, the Burmese diplomat who lived in Riverdale during his tenure as Secretary General of the United Nations from 1961 to 1971.
