Shape Up NYC is a free group fitness program with locations across the five boroughs. Sign up below to take fitness classes like aerobics, bootcamp, Zumba, and much more. Our fitness instructors know how to make fitness fun!
Shape Up NYC is a free program. You do not need to be a member of a recreation center in order to attend a class, though you must bring a lock and a government-issued ID for classes held at recreation centers.

Shape Up NYC Service Changes
Shape Up NYC is currently offering both indoor and outdoor group fitness classes. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve put additional safety protocols in place.
For Shape Up NYC classes:
- Pre-registration is required; drop-in participants may attend outdoor classes if the class is not full.
- Class sizes are limited to ensure social distancing can be maintained.
- Face coverings are required for all indoor classes; for outdoor classes, face coverings are required if you are unvaccinated.
- Wash your hands frequently and stay home if you’re sick.
- Proof of vaccination is required for most indoor locations.
Programs may be modified, rescheduled or cancelled due to weather, health, or safety concerns.

Senior Cardio Sculpt

10:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
This low impact cardio workout consists of functional movement exercises designed to make daily activities easier to perform. Participants must be 60+.

Chair Yoga
at Baychester Library, Bronx
11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
This class provides a seated flow that raises the heart rate and improves balance, with minimal impact on joints.

Total Body Bootcamp
at Soccer Field (in St. James Park), Bronx
12:00 p.m.–1:00 p.m.
Total Body Bootcamp is a cardio workout that will engage your entire body to elevate your heart rate, strengthen muscles, improve coordination and balance.

Shape Up NYC Bootcamp
at St. James Recreation Center, Queens 

12:00 p.m.–1:00 p.m.
A military inspired workout regimen for those wanting more.

Zumba

6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
Zumba is a fusion of Latin, International and popular music dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system!

Mat Pilates is a beginner exercise class which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength.

This high-energy total body workout will keep you moving with challenging yet fun bodyweight circuits.
