Join us and our partners and friends in celebrating Juneteenth at concerts, workshops, and other celebrations at parks across New York City!

About Juneteenth from NMAAHC
Juneteenth (June 19, 1865) marks our country’s second independence day. Though it has long been celebrated among the African American community, it is a history that has been marginalized and still remains largely unknown to the wider public. The legacy of Juneteenth shows the value of deep hope and urgent organizing in uncertain times.”

benches painted in the Pan-African colors line a grove of trees called the Juneteenth Grove. A park sign near the grove reads: Juneteenth Grove

Juneteenth Grove
The Juneteenth Grove is dedicated in solidarity with the Black community to the fight to end systemic racism. Visit it at Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn!

Celebrating Juneteenth at Seneca Village in Central Park
Juneteenth provides an opportunity to learn about Seneca Village, the predominately Black community that existed on the site before the City built Central Park, and to reflect on its relationship to emancipation. Explore Seneca Village on a self-guided tour, or join an in-person or virtual tour with the Central Park Conservancy.
