Please note: This event has already taken place. Please use the Search options on the right to find upcoming events.
This event will be held as part of the City Nature Challenge, an annual 4-day global bioblitz to document plants and urban wildlife. Field trip participants will be encouraged to take photos (using a camera, cell phone, or other device) of plants, insects, birds, and other wildlife encountered during the trips to contribute to the citywide and global effort.
Calvert Vaux Park is an under-explored park in Brooklyn with several trails and a waterfront view of the Verrazano Bridge. The event will take place during low tide to take advantage of the exposed shoreline.
Participants of all levels are welcome! Local naturalists with expertise in plants, birds, and insects will share their knowledge on the biodiversity of the park and how to make meaningful observations.
The bioblitz will be led by Chris Kreussling (Flatbush Gardener) and other local experts.
We will meet inside the park at the "Pollinator Place" near the pedestrian bridge over Shore Parkway.
