.Hiking is the ultimate way to enjoy the outdoors and a fun way to reduce stress. Regardless of the intensity level, it is a great way to burn calories and stay fit.
Our Urban Park Rangers hiking guides will introduce you to the hidden gems of New York City and places often off-limits to the general public. On our hikes, you can gain orienteering skills, explore our city's rich history, or just take an hour to unplug from the world.
Hiking programs feature intensity levels ranging from a light stroll on mostly paved paths, to moderate length, faster-paced hikes on rugged terrain, to vigorous long-distance, with hills and rugged terrain. Vigorous hikes are longer with hills and rugged terrain. We recommend wearing comfortable hiking shoes or boots. Pack water and a light snack.
To enhance your experience we recommend wearing comfortable shoes or boots, pack a light snack and bring water.
Please note: We are offering outdoor programs with limited attendance so that you can have a safe and enjoyable time in parks. Based on New York State guidance for sports and recreation during COVID-19, we’ve put protocols into place to keep our participants and staff safe and healthy. We're asking everyone to help us stay safe:
- Stay home if you're sick
- Maintain six feet of physical distance between households
- Wear a face covering
- Wash your hands
Additionally, we encourage participants to bring their own hand sanitizer to our programs.
