Have your kids ages 5-8 get creative with naturalist and author, Leslie Day and artist and teacher, Jessica Maffia!

Learn about the trees and the unique shapes of leaves found throughout Fort Tryon Park - oaks, maples, redbuds, elms, lindens, and more! Kids bring fallen leaves collected from the park and will explore their shapes, lobes, toothed edges, and other features. Your kids' artwork will showcase exploration findings from the park.

Please bring these materials to the activity:

  • 5 different types of leaves (as fresh as possible - not too dry or crunchy)
  • paper
  • crayons
  • watercolors
  • paintbrushes and a cup of water
  • paper towel
