Join NYC Parks' Arts, Culture & Fun for an Abstracting Nature workshop in partnership with Seeds of the League. Niko Lowry will lead the workshop where you will learn to relax and learn to express yourself through abstract expressionism.
The workshop will take place outdoors at the O'Donohue Bandshell. For your comfort, bring a mat, blanket, or folding chair to sit on. Feel free to bring your own pens, pencils and paper. Some supplies will be provided as well.
About Niko Lowery: Niko Lowery is an abstract expression artist and teacher from New York City. He is a recent BFA graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology and is working on his master's in art education. His experience in teaching involves leading workshops and classes at the Joan Mitchell Foundation, Nex Gen Art Expo, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Please email Stephanie.Joseph@parks.nyc.gov to register, and note that the class size is limited to 15 participants and will be on a first-come-first-serve basis on the day of the workshop. This workshop will be cancelled in case of rain.
Please note: This summer, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we're offering outdoor programs with limited attendance so that you can have a safe and enjoyable time in parks. We’ve put protocols into place to keep our participants and staff safe and healthy. We're asking everyone to help us stay safe:
- Stay home if you're sick
- Maintain six feet of physical distance between households
- Wear a face covering
- Wash your hands
Additionally, we encourage participants to bring their own hand sanitizer to our programming.
Note: Some programs may be modified, rescheduled, or cancelled due to weather, health, or safety concerns.
