Boroughs of the Dead Tour Guide Marie Carter takes you on a tour of the “pleasant” and bustling neighborhood of Astoria. But Astoria also has a dark and lurid history with its fair share of ghosts. Its shadowy past is filled with tragic Hollywood film stars, voodoo, potter’s fields, grisly murders, poltergeists, hidden treasure, and deadly waters. Discover these unsettling tales with “Haunting Histories and Legends of Astoria,” a two-hour stroll that visits some lesser-known historical sites and glorious Victorian mansions of Old Astoria Village, and reveals these unsettling tales of the neighborhood’s grim and ghostly past.
This is a 1.5-mile tour that ends at the south side of Astoria Park.
On 37th Street between 35th and 34th Avenue in Astoria, Queens, around the corner from the main entrance to the Museum of the Moving Image. Your guide will be waiting on the west side of 37th Street, near a large white sign advertising the MoMI.
