Hudson River Park's SUBMERGE Marine Science Festival, on HRPK's Pier 84, celebrates NYC's coastal waters and brings marine science to life. This day of interactive science aims to inspire audiences of all ages and make marine science and STEM accessible and engaging for everyone.

Learn about the ecosystem of the Hudson River estuary through hands-on science activities, catch-and-release fishing, science stage events, kayaking and more!

Some highlights at this year's festival include:

  • The SUBMERGE Science Stage – Experience larger than life experiments with Mad Science, meet New York's Birds of Prey with the Wildlife Institute of Eastern NY, sing and dance with the Funkinships, and more!
  • Meet local Hudson River creatures such as striped bass, oyster toadfish, and blue crabs in the Roving River – Hudson River Park’s aquarium tricycle that showcases wildlife on wheels
  • Research partners from all over the country, including Shark Research Insitute, PVC ROV, and Cafeteria Culture, will be joining us to share engaging marine science
  • More to come!

As part of Hudson River Park's Park Over Plastic initiative to reduce our plastic footprint and improve the health of the Hudson River, this year's festival is sponsored by partners committed to supporting HRPK's sustainability efforts.

Hudson River Park’s Estuary Lab is committed to advancing public awareness and understanding of our local waterways. At SUBMERGE, dozens of organizations that further this mission will share their work. The Estuary Lab offers hands-on education and interactive scientific research with the purpose of communicating the ecological importance of the Park’s 400-acre estuarine sanctuary. Through the Estuary Lab’s parkwide programs, visitors are invited to experience the River as a living laboratory for community engagement and stewardship.
