Discover Freshkills Park and experience the unique landscape and spectacular views the landfill-to-park project has to offer. Hundreds of acres and miles of trails will be open for tours, bicycling, and activities for all ages.
About Freshkills Park
After serving as a landfill for over fifty years, the Freshkills Park site is now one of the most important environmental habitats in the city. With capping and protective systems, the closed landfill has become a new engineered landscape. Wildlife is already responding to the environmental changes. Birds, fish, and mammals are thriving in the creeks and grasslands. As the park is built in phases, free tours and events provide early access.
The event entrance is at 350 Wild Avenue. Parking will be available in surrounding lots. From there, visitors can take a shuttle bus or walk or bike one mile to the main event area. During the event, a free shuttle will also provide transportation to and from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George.
