6:00 p.m. - Jazz Concert: Native Soul pays Tribute to Clark Terry
The hard-swinging collaborative quartet Native Soul has been a regular on the jazz album charts for over a decade. Featuring Peter Brainin (Saxophone), Noah Haidu (piano), Marcus McLaurine (bass), and Steve Johns (drums), they will present a special Charlie Parker Jazz Festival tribute to Clark Terry, with whom McLaurine played for more than 25 years.
7:45 p.m. - Movie Screening: Keep on Keepin’ On (2014)
A documentary that follows jazz legend Clark Terry over four years to document the mentorship between Terry and 23-year-old blind piano prodigy Justin Kauflin as the young man prepares to compete in an elite, international competition.
Bring your own chair, sitting on the floor is not recommended. Glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. You should arrive before 5:30 p.m. to get your spot. Reservations are not taken, so space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All are welcome!
