Come and tour New York City’s only Ecology Park, located in the Paerdegat Basin Natural Area Preserve. Enjoy a guided tour of the 15 different plant communities found all across New York City, in one location.

Ecology Park is a heavily-designed landscape meant to educate visitors on the various habitats and plant communities found both historically and currently throughout New York City. The park includes a pedestrian walkway, viewing platforms and has been planted diversely to highlight the variety of plant communities that can be found around Jamaica Bay. Some of the communities you will see are a low lying salt marsh habitat dominated by a monoculture of cordgrass (spartina alterniflora), and a maritime grassland community teeming with biodiversity.

Tours will last approximately 30 minutes.

Funding for these tours was provided by the Jamaica Bay Rockaway Parks Conservancy.
