Food Justice 101: A Workshop for Kids and Teens

Tuesday, December 4, 2018

4:00 p.m.6:00 p.m.

Grow to Learn and GreenThumb

What is the food system? Where does our food come from and how does it get to our plates? In this workshop, we will talk about the current food system and its potential for change. Throughout New York City, there are many efforts underway to create alternative ways of producing and accessing food, including urban farms, community and school gardens, soup kitchens, and compost facilities. In order to fix our broken food system, a crucial first step is to understand it. This workshop is designed to arm young people with the tools they need to critically explore the food system and learn how they can be active participants in its transformation.

Please RSVP so we can list your name at the security desk. Please also bring a photo ID and allow time to get through security.

GreenThumb is excited to be offering its first ever youth workshop series. This is part of a larger effort in looking towards the future to foster the growth of the next generation of gardeners. Please encourage youth among family, friends, and community to attend these fun and free events.
