Listen to storyteller Rama Mandel read Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt, by Kate Messner, with art by Christopher Silas Neal, and hear about the critters at work in the cool damp earth beneath the ground. On a tall hat, make a dark and murky ecosystem of insects and decomposers, like earthworms, ants, protozoa and fungi. Then top it with a flower and march your decomposing troop in a fall parade. Scavengers & Decomposers Weekend event.

Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon.
