Known for its dramatic sloping topography and designated as a Scenic Landmark by New York City, Morningside Park is the final Olmsted and Vaux design to be completed before Vaux's death in 1895. At the time of its completion, it was hailed as Vaux's crowning achievement and has been called the most intact of all of the Olmsted and Vaux park designs. Come explore this 30-acre gem and learn about significant events that have taken place there, including the protests that stopped Columbia University from building a gymnasium in the park in 1968.

Tour Information

This is one of four Morningside Park tours over the Open House New York Weekend. Tours will be led by architect and president of the Friends of Morningside Park, Brad W. Taylor.
