Open House New York: Conference House Park Edition
Sunday, October 14, 2018
12:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
This event repeats every day between 10/13/2018 and 10/14/2018.
As part of the citywide Open House New York Weekend, the historic houses of Conference House Park will be open for self-guided tours. In addition to the park's namesake—the circa 1680 Conference House, the Henry Hogg Biddle House (circa 1840) with its front and rear two-story porticos, the William H. Rutan/Becket House with its intact 1950s-era kitchen, and the Ward-Leven House circa 1830 (the second oldest within the park), will open for visitors.
Art and culture are on display during Open House New York. Visit the Plastics: Pelagic Peril exhibit at the Lenape Gallery in the Conference House Park Visitor Center: Also on display at the Biddle House gallery is Roxanne Jacbson's Staten Island Prehistory exhibit, and view the Conference House Association's new exhibit 'Threads' in the Conference House upper floor gallery.
In addition to the park's historic houses, Conference House Park is home to a variety of natural habitats, flora, and fauna. Many are unique only to this area of NYC, including red clay-colored bluffs and northern hackberry forests.
On Sunday, October 14 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Protectors of Pine Oak Woods will hold a Staten Island Nature & Wildlife 2019 Calendar launch reception at the Biddle House.
All events are free!
