VCB Row Around Manhattan 2018
Sunday, September 30, 2018
8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
Every year, the Village Community Boathouse mobilizes its fleet of traditional wooden rowing craft for a circumnavigation of the most famous island in the world.
The Row Around Manhattan (RAM) is a challenging and incredibly scenic 30-mile voyage that begins at our boathouse on the south side of Pier 40, circles Manhattan on the Hudson, East, and Harlem Rivers in a counterclockwise direction, and ends with a spectacular party back at the boathouse. The RAM is also our biggest fundraiser of the year; we ask each rower to raise or contribute a minimum of $100.
This year’s RAM will take place on Sunday, September 30 (rain date October 13) with a start time of 8:30 am (crews need to be on hand by 7:30 a.m. at the latest).
Nonmembers are welcome to join us provided they have sufficient rowing experience or join us for at least three practice rows between now and the event. Non-rowing friends, family, and colleagues are encouraged to support the effort by volunteering at the event or by reserving a seat in our chase boat, skippered by the charismatic Ingo Gunther, in exchange for a $250 contribution (only 4 seats are available).
You must register in advance! Sign-up is easy:
1. Go to our registration page at crowdrise.com.
2. Click Join the Team—the button on the upper right.
3. Create your fundraiser. Upload your favorite pictures of you rowing. Tell your own story of why VCB is important to you. Make it personal!
4. Share by email, FB, and Twitter with your friends, colleagues, and family. How long have you been telling them how much you love rowing? Boatbuilding? Hanging out with the crazy VCB folks? Now you can give them a chance to support you as you row around Manhattan for VCB. You’ll be surprised at the response you get! People like to donate to worthy causes when they’re asked by someone who is passionate.
