The content of this presentation is derived from historical and geographical research of Eichenbaum’s 2016 visit to historic Vlissingen (Flushing’s namesake) and Antwerp, Belgium, both major commercial waterways.
Dr. Eichenbaum will discuss major aspects of globalization, including assembling routes, navigation, and the rise of technology, in which modernity was never a recent concept, but in fact a seventeenth century creation with the rise of international trade and multinational economy.
Light refreshments will be served.
