Get ready to plant, pick, study, and maybe even taste some strange and unusual summer melon species. Out in the park we will learn to identify local melon plants. While we work in our greenhouse we’ll listen to the blues to get in a sweet, soulful, melon-choly mood. Students will take home fresh melon from the harvest they pick.

During this gardening club, tweens can build agriculturalist, survivalist, and naturalist skills while working on environmental stewardship projects in the park. During each session, we will garden in the Alley Pond Environmental Center greenhouse to the “beet” of musical genres from classical to pop, from hip-hop to bebop. Along the way, we’ll learn what plants need, and why we need them.
