Join us for an evening with Native Soil painter Sarah Yuster as she talks about her work, the themes that compel her, and her process.

Native Soil: Incidence and Homescapes is a large-scale retrospective of paintings by Sarah Yuster’s, spanning her thirty-year career. Yuster’s work is subtle and intimate, sparking sentiments from viewers that explain her propensity to invoke a sense of “home.” Yuster has had notable success as a portraitist, with works in two Smithsonian Museums and top university collections. Included in the retrospective will be portrait selections from a past museum show Habitats, Biophiles and Beasts celebrating scientists and naturalists, a recent NYC Parks exhibit External Forces about artist’s outdoor inspiration as a conservation theme, and various paintings done over the years documenting her family and others.

Sarah Yuster is a painter known for her urban landscapes and insightful portraits. She‘s been commissioned by the Wall Street Journal, NY State Legislature, City University of NY, and the NYC Department of Education among others. Yuster’s work has been exhibited at the Museum of American Art, Air and Space Museum, Biggs Museum of American Art, Nat’l Academy of Design, NYC galleries, and hangs in institutions and corporate headquarters throughout the metropolitan area. Her artwork is displayed beyond the U.S. border in the UK, Continental Europe, Japan, and Thailand.
