The 25th annual Harlem Meer Performance Festival brings the best local talent to Central Park! Enjoy a variety of performances featuring multi-cultural music and dance, family-friendly entertainment, and more while admiring the lakeside views.

The Queens-based Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s returns to the Harlem Meer Performance Festival for a free performance featuring traditional Mexican music and dance. The company will perform excerpts from “Boda Mexicana” (Mexican Wedding), including dances from the Yucatán peninsula, the Andean-influenced music from Guerrero, and the Aztec suite “Mexican Tiawi,” pronounced meh-shee-kaw tee-aw-wee, which translates to Mexicans onward.

The event also features Alvin Ailey’s Revelations Celebration Community Workshop at 2:00 p.m.

Alvin Ailey’s Revelations is the world’s most popular work of modern dance. Learn excerpts from this American classic led by master teacher Nasha Thomas or other former Ailey company members, with live music by an Ailey percussionist and selected props. Join your friends and family – all ages are welcome! Dance for a moment, remember it for a lifetime.

All ages are welcome.
