This farm walking tour features the bounty of fresh food grown in the Bronx and available at local farmers markets. Visit the flourishing 138th Street Community Garden and Padre Plaza which boast food production, a Wednesday market, and seasonal events in the garden. Brook Park is a community hub for green growth, not just of plants, but also of people. We’ll stop at the South Bronx Farmers Market to allow for some shopping of farm-fresh produce on the way to our final stop, La Finca del Sur Urban Farm, whose crops contribute to the community market.
Each tour includes a delicious, healthy lunch catered by Bronx-based B-Blossom. To reserve your seat, fill out the form at tinyurl.com/BXfood-farmtours2018 or call (718) 817-8026. Tickets are $15, cash or check made out to La Familia Verde. Credit card payment accepted at ilovethebronx.com. All proceeds go to the participating community gardens and urban farms. In partnership with Bronx Green-Up of The New York Botanical Garden, The Bronx Tourism Council, La Familia Verde, Mary Mitchell Family and Youth Center, Montefiore and NYC Parks GreenThumb.
