Open Garden Day NYC: Natural Dye Workshop

Part of Open Garden Day NYC, learn how to use flowers, fresh indigo, and food scraps to naturally dye fabrics using the free form technique of bundle dying at El Garden in Brooklyn. We will cover the basics of mordanting and color extraction. Participants will be able to investigate a variety of results and techniques using flowers and leaves growing at El Garden.

Silk, natural dyes, and fresh flowers will all be provided. Participants are welcome to bring old flower bouquets and one additional item (cotton, linen, canvas, or silk) to dye.

No previous dyeing experience necessary! All ages welcome!
