Bronx Food and Farm Walking Tours: Belmont Community Gardens
Saturday, June 30, 2018
10:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
The Belmont neighborhood is home to a very diverse group of farmers and entrepreneurs, including La Familia Verde Coalition, a network of five community gardens which operates a Tuesday farmer’s market. Join us as we visit Garden of Happiness, one of the oldest community gardens in the Bronx (founded in 1988) for a tour of their long-standing casita, greenhouse, and chicken coop. Next, we’ll have lunch in the Garden of Youth, a garden dedicated to providing agricultural learning opportunities for our children and youth. Finally, we’ll end at the newly renovated Charles W. Cooke Farm for a gardening activity.
