With less than one week remaining to see NYC Parks’ Arsenal Gallery exhibition “1978: The NYC Parks/New York Times Photo Project,” Parks announces a special viewing due to popular demand. On Saturday, June 9, the exhibition will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with Parks’ Director of Art & Antiquities and the exhibit’s curator Jonathan Kuhn on hand.

1978: The NYC Parks/New York Times Photo Project is a colorful exhibit that features more than 60 photographs taken during the New York City newspaper strike from August to November 1978. During this period, the Parks Department hired eight New York Times photographers to document the City’s parks, resulting in over 3000 images that serve as a time capsule of a pivotal moment for New York.

“1978” was curated by Parks’ Director of Art and Antiquities Jonathan Kuhn.

This exhibition is on view on weekdays through June 14.*

*Please note: By popular demand, the Arsenal Gallery will open on Saturday, June 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
