Join NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, Consulate of Iceland in New York, and Fort Tryon Park Trust, in the presence of the President of Iceland Gudni Th. Johannesson and First Lady Eliza Reid, to celebrate the opening of Steinunn Thorarinsdottir's temporary public exhibition ARMORS.
Remarks will take place at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided by the Fort Tryon Park Trust. This event is free and open to the public.
Visitors to Upper Manhattan’s Fort Tryon Park this May through September will be welcomed by ARMORS, a site-specific public art project in the park’s Cloisters Lawn for which Steinunn Thorarinsdottir has positioned each of three androgynous figures in humanlike dialogue with a suit of armor
that was cast from a custom 3D scan of a carefully chosen suit of armor from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s permanent collection.
