Please note: This event has already taken place. Please use the Search options on the right to find upcoming events.

On Earth Day weekend we'll be paying our respects to trees and the sun by joining the New York Restoration Project (NYRP) in getting free trees to New Yorkers to plant in their front, yards, back yards, and community gardens. Pick up a tree and then stick around to participate in a family friendly nature mandala sidewalk chalk crafting event. Free picnic lunches supplied by Panera Bread of Long Island City (while supplies last)!

To pick up a free tree, you must agree to:

  • pre-register on NYRP’s website:
  • plant in one of the five boroughs;
  • keep trees properly watered and maintained;
  • and plant your tree in the ground of your yard or community garden and NOT along streets or in city parks.

There is a one tree maximum for participants who pre-register in Giveaways this year. Family members must be present to claim their own trees.

YOu may RSVP to the Facebook event. If you have any questions or if you would like to volunteer at this event, please contact Rose Moon at
